Like many of the other subdivisions built in Montgomery County in the late 1950’s and 1960’s, Kemp Mill has tree-shaded blocks of ramblers, split-levels, Cape Cods and Colonials. However, Kemp Mill does reveal something different from other Silver Spring communities—at least half of the 10,000 residents are Orthodox Jews. Newlyweds and grandparents alike call Kemp Mill home.
